“Wonderful”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2019

This was a perfect and simple apartment for our five nights on the beautiful island of Kolocep. Communication prior to going was good and helpful and we recieved a warm welcome when we arrived. Although the apartment had two bedroom we only had need for one and it was very clean and well equipped. We had one cold, rainy day and a sofa area would have been nice as the kitchen is small and very dark - however these are minor points as for the other four days we used the wonderful outdoors area. What made this apartment so very special was its proximity to the sea!!! Right there beneath the apartment!!! A lovely decked area with plenty of sunbeds are available directly below the apartment - the sea is so beautifully clean and clear - but beach shoes are required due to the sea urchins that clinf to the rocks and pebbles. This 'beach' is stony but just five minutes away is a beautiful sandy beach, again so clean and clear, with sun beds to hire if you wanted. The sea is easy to get into and seemed very safe. The island of Kolocep is pure magic - no cars, so so clean, friendly people. We went towards the end of the season and had hoped to just eat in the restaurants but sadly one had closed already, one was only doing a very limited menu (and i believe stopped serving food half way through our stay) one was only doing weddings for the whole five nights we were there which was disappointing and one is owned by the hotel and the hotel guests came first! They so had/didnt have a booking system which became confusing - we booked with the restaurant onky to find our booking was null and void as we hadn't booked through the hotel! This left us without food for one night - luckily we had bought bread and cheese from the little shop to tide us over!!! The next time we booked with the hotel (although they tried to tell us we didn't need to!!!) however - we had two of our very best meals ever in this restaurant and would go back to the island to eat here again!!!! All in all the apartment was perfect, the island is magical and we had the best five night stay - thank you x

“Lovely quiet apartment on tiny island”

Reviewed 12 Jun 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed here last month (May '13) for a week and thought it was fantastic. We rented to larger apartment, due to the smaller one bedroom being booked on some of the days we wanted, but it was actually a really good size for us. It was VERY reasonably priced, and great value for money. - The kitchen was well equip and clean, there was a fridge and utensils for cooking the bathroom was very modern, and the entire place was air conditioned. The one or two things I would say about the apartment is that it is above the owners own home, so not super private, and really has NO food (we had to buy salt and olive oil etc and ended up leaving most of it), though there was welcome red wine and chocolates. You also share a balcony with anyone else renting the other apartment, but it was a great size and had a fantastic view. The island of Kolocep itself was lovely, though very small, and lacking a bit in places to eat and buy groceries. We got the (very cheap) ferry to Dubrovnik 20mins away most days (the shop didn't seem to have bread or breakfast things, it was mainly beach toys, postcards, beer and icecream). The days we did stay on the island there wasn't really anywhere for us to eat - one quite expensive restaurant, the hotel (where you have to book dinner the day before) and a couple of bars. On the other side, in the other village, there was a nice tavern-style place that sold basic food. We had a lovely time, and felt very well looked after by the family, who organised all our taxis for us (at a very reasonable rate) as well as meeting us from the ferry and bringing us cake and pastries during the week. This would be perfect for a couple or family looking for a quiet, safe coastal holiday (the beaches weren't all that) that don't mind self catering and want to meet people so enjoy the personal interaction with the owner and his family. The pictures do not do it justice, the flat is spotless and perfect, and the island is beautiful.

“Great for young families and such lovely hosts”

My husband and I rented the 2 bedroom aparment as we needed more space with our 21 month old son than the hotel would have allowed. The family from the very start were very hospitable. We were greeted at the ferry dock, our bags transported over to the apartment, and Ante even carried our pushchair (complete with child) up the stairs for us. There were even beers in the fridge which was excellent and much needed after a long day travelling, and a few days before we departed we were brought barbecued squid, potatoes and tomatoes which was very kind. The apartment itself is practically laid out, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. We had a travel cot (provided for us) in our room, so used the second bedroom as a living room with a TV in it. The bathroom is very spacious with good facilities. The kitchen and dining area aren't huge, but the terrace is huge so not really a problem. The terrace also has one of the loveliest views on the island in my opinion.

“Phantastic place for relaxing holiday”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2012

We spent 10 days in the middle floor apartment of family Svilokos and liked everything about it. The family was very hospitable and friendly, the view - amazing, we got asleep listening sounds of the sea every night! The apart lays between 2 beaches - sandy beach suitable for children and rocky FKK beach with convinient ladder leading directly into the deep sea. And also there is possibility to go in the water just 10 meter away of the apart! We would certainly recommend this apart to our friends!

“Lovely apartment in amazing location with the most hospitable hosts”

We had a fantastic time on Kolocep. Ante and his family were welcoming and went above and beyond. The apartment is small but perfectly functionable and the view from the terrace is amazing. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday then it is to be found on Kolocep - the children had a whale of a time playing on the beach and we took the ferry over to Dubrovnik a couple of times too. We will definitely return :)
